"Jesus loves us and wants us to love others"
John 21:2-13

The children will realize that love is shown through actions and know that God wants them to love others. Kind words and good deeds will be stressed. They will anticipate giving joy to others by presenting Valentine cards to their families and buddies.

We will read Farfallina and Marcel and see how friends change. We will discuss plot, learn verbs for now and the past, initial /f/, HF Words: see, look, -op Word Family: bop, cop, hop, mop, pop, and top. We've enjoyed sharing the timelines and seeing how much everyone has grown and changed. They'll be on display in the hall at the end of the month. Be sure to stop by and take a look. We'll be discussing changes in plants and animals.

We'll continue to work on numbers in the teens and twenties. We use the Smartboard to show ten frames.

Congratulations to all! We had 100% participation in the January Read Aloud. The class read 507 books, for a total of 1,693. I applaud all of you.

We are three cans short of 100 cans for our "Souper Bowl" drive. I have no doubt that we will meet our goal before Friday, our 100th day of school. There will be many activities to celebrate the 100th day. We'll make fruit loop necklaces grouping the cereal in tens. We'll guess what items each child brought in. We'll complete books about what we could/couldn't eat 100 of, and write about when we are 100 years old.

Our "Pennies from Heaven" coin drive is off to a good start. Be sure to review the names of the coins and the value of each one.

A speaker from Chilton Hospital will discuss how we can become more "Heart Healthy". I think she will be impressed with how much the children already know about healthy eating choices.

Homework: Complete the 1-100 sequence sheet. It's in your child's folder.
Help your child practice his/her poem. He/She will be paired with a classmate and recite the same poem together.
