During Advent God's Family Prepares To Celebrate Jesus' Birthday.

We will light the Advent wreath each day and pray, "Come, Lord Jesus". The children will realize that Advent is a special time to prepare for Christmas. Your child will take home a "Hearts of Kindness" sheet. Have him/her color in a heart each time a good deed is done during Advent, eg. help clean up, send someone a card, etc. Return the sheet when complete. We will open a door on our classroom Advent calendar each day and reinforce preparing for Christmas with kindness in the classroom.

I am sending home a lovely letter that the class received for the "Socks for Souls" service project. Your donation really made an impact. Thank you!

The Reading selection is A Bed for the Winter, an informational story. Skill: sequence; Phonics: Ii short /i/; Grammar: Adjectives; Opposites; HF Words: he, for;

-it Word Family: bit, fit, hit, lit, pit, and sit. I cannot stress how important it is that you write these words on index cards and practice and review. Please read over the Family Times booklet that is sent home. Have your child practice reading the booklet that is sent home midweek.

November Pizza Hut Read Alouds should be returned by the end of the week. I am hopeful that we will have 100% participation.

We'll continue to work on writing and grouping numbers. It's fun writing numbers on a classmate's back. We'll use the Smart Board for locating numbers on a number line. We've been counting by 5's and 10's every day. You can practice at home.

It should be interesting to see if the children think that we'll have snow in December. It's been interesting to watch a bag of water evaporate in the classroom.

We'll discuss how different animals prepare for winter, sort, count, and graph gummy bears, a take home treat.

Homework: Have your child write at least two sentences on how to be a good friend. Full name on the back please. Due: Thursday. The lined paper is in your child's folder. Also, a Baptism photo of your child (with or without family).
