John 12:23-25
The children will learn that plants come from seeds and marvel at the wonder of God's gift of seeds and plants. We'll plant lima beans in water and watch and record their growth. The children will be aware of the death-to-new life cycle of a seed and know that Jesus died on the cross and rose to new life to give us new life.
Our reading selection is Abuela, fiction. Skill: setting; Phonics: Ee short /e/ initial and medial; Grammar: Pronoun I; HF Words: go, here, from; -ut Word Family: but, cut, gut, hut, jut, and nut. We'll use a Venn Diagram to compare the story to Tar Beach by Faith Ringold
Fifteen children participated in the March Read Aloud for a total of 305 books read, a slight drop from February. Total to date is 1,977.
We'll work on telling time to the hour and write about our best time of the day.
We'll learn about the Rain forest and things that we can do to protect planet Earth. A guest speaker will share tips on how to cut down on garbage by recycling. We'll work with a partner on a class rewrite based on Three Pandas Planting and what they do to keep the earth looking beautiful.
Our ArtSmART lesson will focus on George Seurat.
Our thoughts and prayers go to Mrs. Donovan and her family. Her mom died last week. Mrs. Donovan will return to class at the end of the week. The children will make cards for her.
