As Valentine's Day approaches, we continue to discuss ways to show love towards others through kind words and caring actions. Each time a child is "caught" showing love he/she colors in a heart of kindness. Our Valentine Party will be "Heart Healthy" and include red apples and watermelon. Our speaker from Chilton Hospital was very impressed by what the children already knew about the food groups and good eating.
We'll continue reading and discussing Bunny Day and talk about the routine and sequencing of our own days. We'll set clocks to the hours shown in the story. Our next unit in Math is Number Patterns. We'll work on counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's, something we do daily. We'll sort, count, and graph Valentine conversation heart candies.
"A penny for her thoughts." Just what was the Mona Lisa thinking about? We'll view the art print and tell why in our journals.
We'll celebrate the birthdays of Washington and Lincoln and compare/contrast these beloved Presidents. We'll play I Spy when we view "Washington Crossing the Delaware". Our buddies will help us make Lincoln log cabins. We'll graph pennies according to the year, make penny pendants, and do penny rubbings.
